As you can see above Kouga is the leader of the Wolf Clan. His biggest power is his super speed. He gained this power due to the Shikon shards he has inplanted in his legs and arms.
When we first meet him, he is one of the bad guys. His wolfs (not Ginta and Hakkaku) killed Rin(before Shessomaru restored her). He kidnapped Kagome at first because of her powers to see the Shikon shards, but after a while he actually falls in love with her. And this made him into a good demon, now that he is in love with a human. He now helps the InuYasha gang at times, on their quest to take down and kill Naraku.
When he was younger he got accidentaly engaged to a wolf demon from the mountains called Ayame. He saved her as a child and promised her marriage, just to keep her spirits up. Now that she is grown, she is still holding Kouga to his promise.
